i brought home some deliciously expensive cheese today that I’ve been looking forward to for months.
Evan: that cheese is so bad, I just can’t even handle it.
More for me!

Kids are gross
Overheard tonight when I was making dinner:
Corinne: Evan, smell my finger.
Evan: *sniffs* ewwww gross! Can I lick it?
Corinne: yes.
*licks*
---at which point I step in----
Me: Corinne where did you put that finger?
Corinne: In my butt.

That time I accidentally attended an AA meeting
When Corinne entered kindergarten, I embraced the SAHM thing and signed up for all the things. PTA, dance committee, Co-room mom, DGL, Girl Scout treasurer, and I somehow took on the troop cookie mom role as well.
Fast forward 4 months and I need to attend the cookie booth sign up meeting. Living in GA means that these always take place in churches and there are A LOT of churches.
I followed my GPS nav to the location, saw a church ahead, and turned off the nav. I saw a bunch of cars pulling into the parking lot of a church and followed them right in. Because what else could possibly be going on at 7p in January on a random day in the middle of the week at a church? I parked near everyone else who had just arrived, and followed the line of ladies walking into the building. I trailed behind them, into a room, thinking that these were experienced cookie moms who obviously knew each other and where they were going. Newbies like me could learn from them. I sat down on a couch in between two women whilst silently congratulating myself for arriving 5 minutes early.
I said Hi to the people on either side and verbally expressed excitement for being there. It was my first time, and I was ready to score some good ones! I was met with a friendly, but quizzical look. Then I took in my surroundings: AA posters lining the wall (maybe this was the only room available? Dual purpose?) a few men in the crowd (dads can be cookie moms, too, right?), and only about 15 people (I was expecting like 50+). Then I dawned on me. I asked the nice lady next to me if this was the Girl Scout Cookie meeting. She chuckled and said "No honey."
Apparently the color meeting was in another room, at another church, located directly across the street.
Oops.

Conversation at the playground today
Evan: How long are we going to stay here for?
Me: that's up to you. We'll leave when you get bored or when you stop following the rules.
Evan: ok. I'll stop listening and following the rules in 30 minutes.
Me: ok then.

4 going on 14
Evan told me today that I wasn't to walk him to his classroom. I was to stand outside (but I was allowed to open the heavy outside door for him, apparently), and he was going to walk down the two hallways to his room all.by.himself.
I totally tip toed in 60 seconds behind him.
