More glucose testing and my 30.5 week appointment
I failed my 50 grams of sugar, one hour glucose test on 6/28/12 with a 164 (anything over 130 is failing). So, it was off to the 3 hour glucose test for me! I had it on Monday 7/16/12. The thought of keeping Corinne quiet, entertained and contained for 3 hours in an OB office was laughable at best, so M stayed home with her during that time. I have to admit, I enjoyed my 3 hour break. I read a book, surfed the internet and stared at the wall during that time. All without someone crying to be picked up and entertained. Bummer that my 3 hour break was punctuated by getting blood drawn every hour, but it was the price that had to be paid.
So, I drank my 100 grams (!) of sugar and the results were:
Fasting: 85
One hour: 164 (funny that I got the same number when I drank the 50g of sugar drink as I did the 100g drink)
Two hours: 137
Three hours: 107
For reference, during my three hour test with Corinne (I also failed the one hour test with her), I scored:
Fasting: 76
One hour: 155
Two hours: 131
Three hours: 107 (same exact number as this current test)
The cut offs are listed below. So, I passed all 4 sections. If you fail 2 or more, you are said to have gestational diabetes. I celebrated passing by going to Costco and getting a piece of pizza (Corinne enjoyed it too).

Fasting: 95 mg/dl or higher
One hour: 180 mg/dl or higher
Two hours: 155 mg/dl or higher
Three hours: 140 mg/dl or higher

In other news, my 30.5 week appointment went well. Blood pressure was 130/80. The doctor doesn't think I'll make it to 39 weeks without having blood pressure issues, but he doesn't think it will happen until mid-September. So, hopefully no NICU this time! His guess was this week of Sept 10. We have a lot of family birthdays that fall during that week. Chances are, he's going to end up sharing a birthday with SOMEONE in the family.
Baby boy was laying transverse at the ultrasound last week (head on my left side, feet on my right), and now he is laying breech (head up top, feet down low). He's got less than 2 months to move into place! Next ultrasound is set for Thursday July 26 (next week).
Kitty Zen Picture of the Day
One of Corinne's toys is an empty Kleenex box (it used to be a full, non-toy Kleenex Box, but the thrill of pulling kleenexes out of the box trumped its original intended use). We put small toys in the box, and she delights in pulling them out of the box and sometimes putting them in the box.
Well, the cat decided to stick her head in the box last night. Then she couldn't get it back out. So she ran all over the house, backwards, trying in vain to get the box off her head.
Rockstar pet parents that M and I are, instead of helping the poor, moronic feline, we instead laughed and took pictures.
We did help the cat to remove the evil Kleenex box from her head....eventually.

14 months (officially 1 year adjusted age)
Likes: clapping, "dancing", being chased, nectarines, grabbing the cat's tail and pulling, being read to (has to be in the right mood for it)
Dislikes: green beans, plums, being confined to a non-moving stroller, not being allowed to crawl around in public places, when people grab her hands
Weight: somewhere in the 17lb-18lb range
Clothing size: 12 month in length, 9m in width. Size 3.5 shoe (bought her "special new walking shoes" endorsed by the AAP...$30 later, ouch!)
New milestones: she is starting to stand, unassisted for a few seconds at a time. Popped her first tooth about a week ago. Will put stuff in a box along with taking stuff out. She's starting to understand language. If we ask her "where's the cat?" she will look around for the cat. Or if I tell her "put it back in the box", about 50% of the time, will place whatever she has in the nearest box. She will "wave" if we say anything that sounds like "Hi". But she'll wave to herself while staring at her hand.
Still no talking, other than babbling...boy does she like to babble...especially when she's tired. The babbling usually comes before the eye rubbing stage. I'm looking forward to her walking. She has so many cute dresses that lend themselves to walking, but not so much crawling. Plus, the idea of carrying TWO babies around in September is a daunting prospect. I'd much rather carry one while the other one walks.
Her monthly portrait. She doesn't do lying down anymore. Lying down is for babies. She is now officially a toddler.

One tooth and white trash
As Corinne was chewing on my finger today, I felt a little sharp pointy thing in her mouth. Looks like her bottom left front tooth has popped through. She has a tooth!
I haven't been successful at getting a picture of it. She doesn't like to show it off. She clamps her lips tight whenever I try to pry them open for a looksie.
Tonight, COPS came on TV. During the intro song, Corinne looked at the TV and started dancing! We kept rewinding the intro song and as soon as the "bad boys bad boys" lyrics starting playing, she started dancing. We rewinded it about 8 times and laughed our heads off.
So, she has one tooth and is evidently white trash. Way to go, baby!

29.5 weeks
We had an ultrasound yesterday to check for pre-eclampsia and IUGR.
Baby boy is measuring ahead by 1-1.5 weeks. The tech commented on how long his legs were. He's head down, laying on his right side. They guesstimated his weight to be at 3lb 8oz!
Everything else looked good. Blood pressure was 130/80, and weight gain was +13lbs.
His heart was right under my belly button, so the tech couldn't get a clear look on how big the VSD was, but she said if it was a good size, she would have seen it. So she thinks it is closing up.
I now start going weekly for appointments, and bi weekly for growth ultrasounds.
My belly button is getting very shallow. When I lay down and push around it, it pops up. Looks like a small dinner roll.
Yesterday, I saw a large ripple across my belly. Usually when he moves, you can see a quick "pop", but this one, the right side of the belly rolled, and then then the mass moved to the left side. It was pretty neat to see.

Treasuring the days
With little brother coming in the next 2 months, I know my days to be able to do this are limited. Holding my baby for hours while she naps.
I know this isn't the best idea since we're trying to get her to sleep on her own, but I'm justifying it since she has a slight fever and feels under the weather.

Sleep training
The last week or so, we've been trying to get Corinne to sleep by herself at night.
She won't do the crib, so she sleeps on the mattress on the floor. M puts her sleep, and then if she wakes during the night, I go in and get her back to sleep (usually by nursing) and then sneak out.
Overall, it's gone pretty well. A few nights were bad (she was waking and crying and was hard to settle back down), but some nights were awesome.
The last two nights (am I going to jinx myself by typing this?) she slept all night long without waking. Last night, from 9:30p-8:30a.
One would think this would translate in more sleep for me, but it doesn't. I'm up every 90 minutes to use the bathroom, and checking the video monitor every 30 minutes, paranoid that only a dead baby would be that quiet.

Happy 4th of July!
We had a few friends over for a BBQ. Altogether, there was a 1yr old, two 3yr olds, a 4yr old and a 6yr old. Whatever the "big kids" were doing, Corinne crawled over and tried to be part of the action.
Our house was trashed by the end of it (toys, and things that weren't meant to be toys) were strewn everywhere. The poor cat was traumatized.
