Evan scratches mommy's feet

Evan: mommy, can I scratch your feet?
Me: sure!
---Starts scratching---
Evan: does that tickle?
Me: no. It feels nice.
Evan: ok. Since it feels nice, I'll do it all day long.
Me: sounds great!
---4.74 seconds later---
Evan: that's enough scratching for now.
Me: I thought you said you were going to do it all day long?
Evan: well I'm sick of it now.

Evan's first day of school

After dropping him off, the teacher took these pictures:

Looks like there's only one girl in the class. Whoooboy is she in for an experience.

When we brought Evan home from the hospital

Matt: this is Evan's song
Me: huh? Was it the number one song when he was born or something?
Matt: I think we've had this conversation a few times
Me: probably.
Matt: this was the song that was playing when we drove home from the hospital with him after he was born.

Recorded because it may come up in Family Trivia 10 years from now:

First Day of Kindergarten

I During the last 5ish years, kindergarten seemed to be the benchmark that people spoke about. While in the NICU, the staff told us that "she won't be on a feeding tube in kindergarten". A few years later: "She'll be talking by kindergarten." "She won't go to kindergarten in diapers."

"Babies don't keep."

The feeding tube is long gone, "be quiet" is now a lofty goal, and diapers are used for baby dolls. Her long legs and arms that used to be small enough to fit through a wedding ring, now bump against my knees when I carry her upstairs.

It looks like everyone was right.

Waiting for the bus:

My hearts returns at the end of the day:
