Lake fail

We decided to go to the beach today at the lake. Promised the kids, the whole nine yards. Driving there, looking at the black sky, we realized it probably wasn't the best idea, but darn it we were going to go anyways. What's the worse that could happen besides getting wet? 

We lasted 30 minutes before the thunder roller in. But it was fun for those 30 minutes! 

Last day of nursery school

Thursday 5/21/15 was the last day of nursery school. The kids sang a few songs, and the teachers said a little something about each kid. My video camera on my phone failed when it was Evan's turn. I was busy trying to fix it that I don't really pay that close attention to what they were saying about him other than "he really likes to eat".

Then after the program, they went back to their respective classrooms for cupcakes. I felt bad bouncing between the classrooms. Each time I left for the other kid's classroom, the kid I was leaving looked at me with those eyes as if to ask "everyone else's parents are staying...why aren't you?"

Once we got home, I took them up to the pool. The water felt nice once you got into it, but once you got out it was chilly due to the wind. This year it's so much easier at the pool. I can take them both by myself, no problem.

Corinne's 4th Birthday

On Thursday, two days before her actual birthday, she celebrated with her friends at school. I brought in Princess Cupcakes, and as soon as the kids saw me, I heard multiple choruses of "ooooohhh cupcakes!" Corinne was so excited to have Mommy in her classroom, she wouldn't stop talking and showing me everything.

However, during the Happy Birthday song, she kept her eyes down. I don't know if she didn't like all the attention on her or what, but I didn't think much of it at the time.

After the song, she perked up and while the other kids were devouring their cupcake, she just wanted to chat. I think she ended up eating half of it. 

For her actual birthday, we had a party at the local park. There was a snafu where I thought I lost my wallet (it was under the seat), and the electricity wasn't working in the pavilion so the crock-pot hot dogs and crock-pot baked beans didn't warm up until a good 45 minutes after the start of the party. But, weather-wise, we lucked out. It was mostly cloudy with a breeze in the low 80s. 

We had lukewarm hotdogs, sub sandwiches, baked beans, potato salad, veggie tray, fruit tray, Pirate Booty, and two kinds of cake: vanilla and chocolate.
