The theme was "whatever cute stuff the Dollar Store had", so the theme turned out to be: Tropical Monkeys!
Goodie bags for the kids. The older kids got a water gun and bubbles, and the babies got a ball and bubbles:
For appetizers, there was spinach dip and bread, a veggie platter, and a fruit and cheese platter:
And, M manned the grill preparing "jungle dogs" and "monkey sliders":
The pool wasn't quite "bathwater warm", but it was warm enough for a few minutes:

So, we set her on the floor to enjoy her cake. True to form, as soon as she realized she wasn't being held, she made her displeasure known:
But, once her attention was diverted onto her new "toy", the cries instantly vanished. Tricky minx.
Then, she went to town.
Her new "game" is offering whatever she has to us. Cute, but we don't always want to take what she offering all the time:
Then, she decided to crawl into the cake. Eating it was merely child's play.
This was bakery cake, so the icing was made of Crisco. Crisco is very hard to wash off the skin. I think we used half a bottle of baby shampoo in an effort to get it off:
The rich food that day made for a very aromatic diaper change the next morning. I now understand the phrase "breast milk poop doesn't stink". Because it doesn't, compared to solid food poop. Holy hell.
